Centralised recording and safekeeping of investment securities and registration of rights under transactions in them.
Depository service is the centralised recording and safekeeping of investment securities in book-entry form, together with the registration of the transfer of ownership rights in them. In the Republic of Azerbaijan this activity is carried out by the National Depository Center.
Operations covered by the service
- Opening, maintaining and closing depo accounts;
- Recording securities in the depository system;
- Transferring securities from one depo account to another under transactions;
- Registering encumbrances on securities (pledge, attachment, blocking);
- Issuing depo account statements and turnover reports.
Who uses it
Depository service is used by issuers, investment companies, banks providing investment services, investment funds and their managers, as well as by individual and corporate investors.
How to apply
To use the service, an agreement on the provision of depository services must be concluded with the NDC. A sample agreement and the list of required documents are available under “Legal Framework → Documents”. Applications are also accepted through the Electronic Application System (EMS).
